Journal Writing

Select one of the characters in Across Five Aprils and write three journal entries using the voice of that character. Write in the slang or style of speaking that the character used in the book.

Before you begin writing, think about the following questions:
What experiences has the character had?
How do you think he or she might feel about these experiences?
What hopes or dreams might the character have?
How does the character feel toward other characters in the book and why?
Your answer to these questions will help you express the reactions and feelings of the character.

(Each entry should be 250 to 300 words, about two or three paragraphs.)
